Our project is driving the East African Community (EAC) towards a fully-fledged Customs Union. By harnessing the power of ICT, we’re revolutionizing how goods move across borders. Through the development of a cutting-edge regional Customs ICT platform and the enhancement of risk management and valuation functions, we’re streamlining processes, reducing trade barriers, and boosting economic growth.
Our work also involves strengthening the EAC Secretariat’s oversight to ensure seamless coordination and monitoring of customs operations. This collaborative approach will foster a more efficient, transparent, and competitive business environment within the region.
Intiatives
Supporting Trade in Services (TiS) & Strengthening the Capacity of the EAC Secretariat.
Our project is spearheading the creation of a seamless trade environment within the East African Community (EAC) by implementing a range of strategic initiatives designed to enhance regional trade efficiency and integration. Central to these efforts is the development of a robust digital infrastructure that facilitates real-time information sharing, transparent transaction processing, and streamlined communication among stakeholders. This digital backbone supports the automation of customs procedures, reducing paperwork, minimizing delays, and lowering the risk of errors or corruption at border points. Additionally, we are working closely with customs authorities and partner agencies to strengthen and harmonize customs processes across all EAC member states. Through capacity building, policy alignment, and the introduction of advanced technologies such as electronic single windows and risk management systems, we aim to accelerate the movement of goods across borders.
